Wolfram Special (Tungsten) steel blades for wood carving bring a little industrial magic to your carving bench. These blades arrive pre-sharpened and ready for you to glue up the scales, then shape, sand, and polish to your heart’s content. Designed for a sweet spot between bite and endurance, they offer keen initial sharpness with reliable edge retention—so you get crisp cuts without constant rework. Hardness sits in the 58–64 HRC range, giving a durable edge that’s forgiving enough for hand work yet tough enough to hold up under extended use. Perfect for custom handle projects where you want to spend time carving, not fussing with the blade.

THESE SCALES ARE GROOVED FOR YOUR CONVIENANCE !
We have very nice basic hardwood scales that are bigger and thicker than the average knife scale you’ll find online—because we want to give you, the knife maker, more wood to play with and more creative options for your designs. Sizes may vary, but the general size is about 2" x 6", with each half roughly 1/2" thick, so you get a sturdy, generous chunk to shape however you like. We recommend using epoxy and at least two clamps (I personally like four small clamps to keep everything snug) and always dry-fit your blades first—leave just a little room around the blade for a quality glue-up. Once the epoxy is fully cured (follow the cure time on your glue bottle), you’re ready to draw out your handle shape and either cut on a bandsaw or start your sanding adventure.
THESE SCALES ARE NOT GROVED YOU WILL NEED TO ROUTER OR CARVE OUT THE SLOT FOR THE BLADE

These are some amazing knife scales—slightly larger than average at 2" x 6" and impressively thick, nearly 1½" total (about ¾" per side). Each scale offers substantial material for bold, durable builds and a satisfying heft to the finished knife.
Because quantities vary, we’ll confirm which pieces remain before shipment so you get exactly what fits your project.
